New London-Spicer forming parent-teacher organization
NEW LONDON -- A parent-teacher organization is being formed in New London-Spicer schools and an organizational meeting will be at 7 p.m. April 17 at the high school cafeteria.
"The purpose of forming a Parent-Teacher Organization is to involve, inform and support the school district," parent organizer Deb Solsrud said in a news release. "Our goal is to engage parents and the NL-S community to strengthen the district and offer our support at the schools."
The PTO has created an online survey to gauge community support and feedback, and is available as a link on the district's web site. Survey questions include past experiences with parent/teacher organizations, and willingness to become involved in the PTO.
The PTO will have monthly meetings with district presentations, to encourage information sharing. The PTO will also have a website with event information, volunteer opportunities, a question and answer section and other information pertaining to the district.
The April 17 organizational meeting intends to gather interested volunteers to gauge interest. Childcare will be provided during the meeting.
