Report: AT&T reaches deal to buy Time Warner for more than $80 billion

New London-Spicer Legion tops Willmar

ALEXANDRIA -- Jacob Damhof drove in the eventual winning run with a single in the fourth inning and four other Willmar players had two hits apiece as Willmar I edged Alexandria I 5-3 Monday in VFW baseball to win the league title.

Willmar finished 9-1 in league play and will take an 18-4 record into the playoffs. Willmar will have a first-round bye before opening postseason play next Tuesday.

Ryan Horning, Dean Stier, Nathaniel Swoyer, Brady Schneck and Damon Ruter had two hits apiece for Willmar.

Swoyer went the distance for the win, allowing six hits and fanning seven.
