New London-Spicer subdues Albany

ALBANY -- New London-Spicer outscored Albany 14-1 down the stretch to drop the Huskies 46-36 in West Central North girls basketball action on Tuesday.

NLS trailed 35-32 with five minutes left when it began a comeback. Justine Dammermann scored all eight of her points in the late rally.

Karli Wendlandt grabbed 14 rebounds and added nine points while Cassie Ziemer finished with a team-high 11 points.

It was the second straight conference loss for the Huskies, who had won 44 straight conference games over the past four years until Friday night's loss to Sauk Centre.

NLS ended a seven-game losing streak to the Huskies, who had never beaten the Wildcats until recently.

Albany's Hannah Huylla led all scorers with 15 points.

NLS center Brianna Jacobson supplied nine rebounds, three steals and four points and Abbey Knisely six points.
