New race offers challenge
MONTEVIDEO -- Run five kilometers through a shaded riverside park, get on your bike and ride 2.1 miles and then jump in a kayak on the Chippewa River and paddle back to where you started.
Organizers of the Second Annual "Montevideo Fiesta Trifesta" are expecting adventurous athletic souls and teams of friends from throughout Minnesota to give the unusual race a try. It is an exciting event of the Ninth Annual Riverfest Rendezvous to be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 19 in Montevideo's Lagoon Park.
The event is being organized by the Twin Rivers Canoe & Kayak Club. Registration fee to enter the Trifesta is $25 per individual and $50 per team. Pre-registration by June 16 is required. For more information visit: www.cureriver.org or call toll free, 877-269-2873.
Other events scheduled for the Riverfest Rendezvous include a 5k fun run, canoe and kayak races and rubber duck races along with a fishing contest and live music by "Butch Halterman and The Educators" and the teen band "Fall to Reason".
Registration for all the events opens at 8 a.m. in Lagoon Park.
The 5k race and the Trifesta Race begin at 8:45 a.m. followed by the Monte Lions Duck Race at 10 a.m. and the Canoe and Kayak races at 10:45 a.m.
