NL man to St. Cloud after pedestrian accident

SUNBURG -- A 20-year-old New London man was taken by ambulance to Rice Memorial Hospital and then transferred to St. Cloud Hospital for injuries sustained in a pedestrian accident around 7 p.m. Tuesday east of Sunburg.

According to the State Patrol, Brandon DeGrote had stopped a 1998 Dodge pickup to pick up items that had fallen out of the vehicle into the roadway. As he was attempting to pull a rollbar from the traffic lane, he was struck by an oncoming eastbound vehicle.

The vehicle, a 2009 Subaru, was driven by Octavian Stan, 42, of Bettendorf, Iowa. He was not injured.
