LITCHFIELD - Taylor. Thunstedt, couldn't buy a basket the first half but cashed in the second half as the New London-Spicer Wildcats overcame at 20-point deficit with 12-minutes remaining in the second half to defeat the Litchfield Dragons 62-55 on Saturday evening.

Thunstedt, a 5-8 sophomore averaging 24 points-per-game, had 5 points at halftime and her team was in arrears 34-14.

At 44-24, Thunstedt scored on a fast-break layup and drew a foul on the shot. A Litchfield player was also assessed a technical for elbowing Thunstedt after the make. She made all 3 free throws then scored on the immediate possession under the Dragons' basket, a virtual 7-point play that made it 44-31. She scored the game's next 8 points, a 15-point NLS/Thunstedt run that closed the Dragons' lead to 5 points, 44-39.

Thunstedt followed with a trio of 3-pointers and a lay-up that escalated the Wildcats from 5-points down at 5:25 into a 54-51 lead, a first-time lead they would not relinquish.

She finished with 36 points. Amanda Radal supplied 13 points and 9 assists. Lydia Kieft grabbed 10 rebounds and scored 7 points.

Litchfield was the superior team the first half and the first six minutes the second half. After that little went their way.

Greta Walsh hit a quartet of 3-pointers and finished with 21 points, 14 in the first half. Shelbie Walsh and Kayla Sommerfeld score 7 points apiece.

The teams are section rivals and next year will be playing the same conference when NLS joins the Wright County.
