NLS to approve transportation contract with Russell's Bus Service tonight
NEW LONDON -- The New London-Spicer School Board is expected to give its final approval to a two-year transportation contract during tonight's board meeting at the NLS District Office.
Last week, Superintendent Paul Carlson told the Tribune the district transportation committee and Russell's Bus Service of New London had reached a tentative agreement on a transportation contract for the 2009-10 and 2010-11 school years.
Carlson said the transportation committee planned to have a contract prepared for approval by tonight's meeting.
On Feb. 23, NLS nearly awarded the contract to American Student Transportation of Maple Grove after the school district and Russell's failed to reach an agreement for the two-year service. After the School Board postponed the decision to tonight's meeting, the two parties reopened negotiations Feb. 27 and came to a tentative agreement March 2.
More details about the contract will be revealed in tonight's School Board meeting that begins at 5 p.m. with the district's pre-meeting listening time. The regular meeting starts at 6 p.m.
