No students hurt in Willmar school bus crash

WILLMAR — None of the 17 students on a school bus were hurt this afternoon when the bus was struck from behind near the intersection of Lakeland Drive and Olena Avenue Southeast.

According to a news release from Willmar Police Capt. Jim Felt, officers were called around 2:45 p.m. and found that a 2004 International bus, driven by Debra Cronen, 58, of Kandiyohi, had been rear-ended by a 2002 Chevy Venture van driven by Melanie Smith, 33, of Willmar.

The crash was at a low rate of speed and the vehicles were driven from the scene after the investigation was concluded. No other emergency services were called to assist in the incident.
