MONTEVIDEO - Norbert Eischens, of Montevideo, died on Monday, May 27, 2013 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 98. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, May 31,2013 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo, preceded by a rosary at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 - 7 PM on Thursday evening at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo and with a rosary and parish prayer service at 7 PM. Anderson -TeBeest Funeral Home of Montevideo is in charge of arrangements.

Norbert Eischens was born near St. Leo, MN on February 11, 1915, to Valentine and Theresa (Hentges) Eischens. He grew up in the St. Leo area. On October 19, 1937 he was united in marriage to Mildred Abraham at St. Leo Catholic Church. They lived in St. Leo until moving to Clarkfield, MN in 1942. They lived in Canby, MN and Appleton, MN, before moving to Montevideo, MN in 2002. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church in Appleton and was currently a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo. He was also a member of the Foresters.

He is survived by eight children: Pat (Eldon) Ostby of Montevideo, MN, Donna Sherod of Benson, MN, Connie (Jerry) Rice of New London, MN, Bob (Patty) Eischens of Farmington, MN, Mary Eischens of Willmar, MN, Terry (Pam) Eischens of Montevideo, MN, Brenda (Alan) Hoffman of Broken Arrow, OK, and Vicki (Randy) Zinda of Spicer, MN; 25 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mildred in 2007; a daughter, Shirley Lesewski; a grandson, Steve Lesewski; a great-grandson, Justin Sherod; and five sisters: Marcella Eischens, Mildred Kockelman, Loretta Wenzel, Eleanor Savard and Lucille Nosbusch.
