Nordin injured, waived by Lions
Jake Nordin, a former Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City football standout, was waived by the Detroit Lions after suffering a torn labrum in his shoulder and will need surgery.
The 6-foot-3, 255-pound Nordin was bidding to make the opening-day roster with the Lions as a fullback after playing tight end at Northern Illinois. He had played the final four games last season with the Lions, catching two passes for 26 yards. Jerome Felton will be the starter at fullback after an impressive preseason. Nordin would have had a chance to be the backup and play special teams.
