WILLMAR - Norman M. Westheim, 85 of Willmar, died Saturday, January 26, 2013 at his home in Willmar. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Hope Lutheran Church in Sunburg. Burial will be in West Norway Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the church and one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with the Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.
Norman Manley Westheim was born on June 8, 1927 in Willmar, the son of Nicolai and Martha (Jacobson) Westheim. He was baptized July 24, 1927 at Willmar Lutheran Church and confirmed on May 24, 1942 at Eagle Lake Lutheran Church. He grew up on the family farm near Long Lake where he attended country grade school. On April 2, 1949, Norman was united in marriage to Inora Braaten at West Norway Lake Lutheran Church near Sunburg. To this union one son and one daughter were born. They made their home south of Sunburg where they farmed for 55 years until his health declined. They moved to Copperleaf Apartments in 2009.
Norman was a member of Hope Lutheran Church where he had served as an usher. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed talking farming with friends and is remembered for his affection and care of his cows.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Inora; son, Dean (Cheryl) Westheim of Sunburg; daughter, Nancy (James) Carlson of Murdock; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and sisters, Myrtle Stevens of Sartell and Ruth (John) Malik of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John and sister, Marie.
