Norman W. Foss Nov. 9, 1916 - Oct. 13, 2008
GRANITE FALLS -- Norman William Foss, 91, of Granite Falls died Monday, at the Granite Falls Hospital.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Community Bible Church in Montevideo. Military honors and burial will be at the Hazel Run Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with the Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Granite Falls.
He was born Nov. 9, 1916, in Hazel Run to John and Thora (Falkum) Foss. He attended school in Hazel Run. He worked for John Morell in Sioux Falls, S.D.
He served in the U.S. Army as a medic for three and a half years in Germany, Belgium, Czechoslovakia and Holland. He received the Battle of Normandy Award. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
He married Gladys Kruse on April 14, 1948, in Granite Falls. They lived in Granite Falls. He worked on construction for Minnesota Valley Improvement for 20 years. After he retired he was a RSVP volunteer. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans and the Community Bible Church where he was in the senior group.
He is survived by his wife; daughter: Marilyn (and Joe) Peterson of Maple Grove; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a brother: George Foss of Spokane, Wash.
He was preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers.
