Northwoods Baseball: Home run in 8th propels South in All-Star Game

MADISON, Wis. -- Tyler Marincov, of the hometown Madison Mallards, hit a solo home run in the eighth inning and the South Division defeated the North Division 4-3 in the Northwoods League All-Star Game on Tuesday.
Marincov connected off Mankato MoonDogs pitcher Patrick Goelz to lead off the bottom of the eighth inning and break a 3-3 tie.
In the top of the ninth, South pitchers Alex Tukey, of Battle Creek, and Seth Fuller, of Wisconsin Rapids, set the North down in order to end the game.
Four Willmar Stingers were selected to the North All-Star team and three appeared in the game.
Michael Suchy was 1-for-3 and scored one of the North's runs, and Hunter Dozier was hitless in three at-bats.
Pitcher Brady Anderson worked two-thirds of an inning and recorded a strike out. Pitcher Jerad McCrummen did not pitch.
The Stingers are off today and open a three-game home stand against North Division leader Duluthat 7:05 p.m. Thursday at Bill Taunton Stadium.
