Northwoods League: Bucks' 9-run inning topples Stingers
WATERLOO, Iowa -- Corben Green homered twice and drove in five runs, but a nine-run inning sank the Willmar Stingers in a 12-7 loss to the Waterloo Bucks on Friday in Waterloo, Iowa.
Willmar starting pitcher Andrew Pulido sailed through his first four innings but hit a wall in the fifth, allowing eight of the Bucks' nine runs in the inning.
The Bucks nine runs came on two walk, a hit batter and eight hits, including a two-run homer off the bat of Waterloo centerfielder Benny Roberts.
Every Waterloo starter had at least one hit and all but one scored at least one run in the game.
The Stingers fell to 1-1 in the second half in the Northwoods League North Division. They travel to Rochester for a game 7:05 p.m. today against the Honkers.
Green was involved in six of the seven runs the Stingers scored.
In the second, he reached first on a dropped third strike, went to second on an error and reached third on a wild pitch, before scoring on a Dillon Haupt groundout.
Green also hit a three-run home run in the fifth and a two-run shot in the seventh.
