The Stingers improved to 12-9 and moved into third place in the Northwoods League North Division. After an 0-5 start, they have won 12 of their past 16 games.

Willmar got to St. Cloud starter Billy Soule early, touching him up for four runs in the first three innings.

The big blow came in the third inning when Rowan and Hunter Dozier singled, and after Michael Suchy was hit by a pitch, Green drove all three in with a double.

Dozier and Suchy drove in runs in the seventh, and Rowan and Matt Jackson each had RBI-singles in the eighth inning to pad the lead to 8-3.

Willmar's Jack Cleary, a catcher out of the University of Maryland playing in his first game as a Stinger, added one more run with a ninth-inning solo home run.

Jon Flinn started for the Stingers and allowed one run in 3-2/3 innings. Scott Lieser worked 2-2/3 innings to get the win in relief.
