Norway Lake-Sunburg nips Regal in 15C playoffs
SPRING HILL -- Jordan Johnson singled in Grant Johnson with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning and Norway Lake-Sunburg staved off elimination with a 1-0 victory over Regal in the Region 15C amateur baseball tournament on Sunday.
Ryan Speltz, a draftee from New London-Spicer, went the distance on a one-hitter for the win. He struck out 13.
Norway Lake-Sunburg lost to Elrosa 5-4 in 12 innings in its opener.
The Lakers will now face New Munich at 2:30 p.m. next Saturday.
Regal, which lost its opener to St. Martin 3-2, was eliminated.
Grant Johnson led off the bottom of the ninth against Regal's Darren Ogdahl, also a draftee from New London-Spicer, with a double and came around to score on Jordan Johnson's single off reliever Austen Hadley.
