The San Diego alternative rock band Switchfoot kicked off Sonshine Festival on Wednesday with a free show. A crowd packed in around the main stage to see the nationally known band.

Among them were Kayla Aronson, Addie Dougherty and Allsion Peltier, who traveled from Stillwater for the concert.

Asked if the band was an appropriate opener for the festival, Aronson said "oh yeah, of course."

"It has more meaning than your standard music," she said.
