NWS predicts stormy night in Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The National Weather Service is advising people in most of central and south-central Minnesota to prepare for a stormy night.
The Worthington area in southwestern Minnesota is under a severe thunderstorm warning and flood warnings have been issued from there to west-central Wisconsin.
The Weather Service says severe thunderstorms are expected to spread across the area throughout the evening, possibly also packing hail, tornados and plenty of lightning.
More specifically, it's estimating a 45 percent chance of damaging winds and a 30 percent chance of large hail across the state.
An area of low pressure is moving north out of the central plains into the Upper Midwest, where it will hit the jet stream and form a line of thunderstorms.
