WILLMAR -- Olga Nelson, 94, of Willmar, died Tuesday at Meadow Woods Assisted Living in Bloomington.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to service at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Memorials are preferred to Calvary Lutheran Church.
She was born Jan. 29, 1914, in Ten Mile Lake Township, Lac Qui Parle County, to Olaf and Petra (Quaal) Oie. When she was a young girl, her family moved to Montevideo where she attended school, graduating from high school in 1932. She received her teacher's training in Montevideo and began teaching country school in 1933.
She married Orlando Nelson on May 11, 1941, in Montevideo. They moved to Willmar. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and served on numerous call committees and the original building committee of the new church, taught Sunday school and served in many women's groups. She was a den leader for Cub Scouts and Rice Hospital Auxiliary volunteer.
She is survived by her children: Karen (and Edward) Gleeman of Bloomington; David (and Mary) Nelson of Edina; seven grandchildren; siblings: Peter (and Miriam) Oie of Granite Falls, Arnold (and Agnes) Oie of Glencoe and Bernice Lofthus of Montevideo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandson, one brother and three sisters.
