Olivia, Minn., man airlifted after crash involving beet-hauling truck

DANUBE -- A 22-year-old Olivia man was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi truck around 7:40 a.m. this morning near Danube.

According to the State Patrol, Sean Ziesmer was driving a 1998 Ford Taurus eastbound on U.S. Highway 212 west of Danube and collided with a 1999 Mack sugar beet-hauling truck driven westbound by Joe A. Chavarria, 57, of Redwood Falls. The collision happened in the eastbound lane of the highway.

Both drivers were taken to Renville County Hospital before Ziesmer was airlifted. Chavarria was treated and released at the Olivia hospital. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
