One dead in crash west of New London, Minn.

NEW LONDON -- A Paynesville woman was killed yesterday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash west of New London that also injured a woman from Kandiyohi.

Betty Boehl, 64, died after her 2007 Jeep was struck broadside by a vehicle at the the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and state Highway 9, near Sibley State Park.

According to the State Patrol, Boehl was traveling east on Highway 9 and failed to stop at a stop sign.

Her vehicle was struck by a 2009 Chevy Traverse, driven by Ruth Christenson, 55, of Kandiyohi, that was going south on Highway 71.

Christenson was taken to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident was reported at 4:36 p.m. on Tuesday.
