WILLMAR -- Oniel Einar Estby, 76, of Willmar, died Sunday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Lutheran Church Chapel in Willmar. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 167 in Willmar.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born Nov. 1, 1932, in Maddock, N.D., to Clifford and Astrid (Flaskerud) Estby. His family moved to Brooten and later to Murdock, where he graduated from Murdock High School in 1950. He moved to Minneapolis and was employed at Seeger's Refrigeration
He married Patricia Hinshaw on Feb. 5, 1953, in St. Paul. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953 and was stationed in France during the Korean War. Following his discharge in 1955, they moved to the Willmar area. He worked for Eid's Refrigeration, as a self-employed appliance repairman and for Coca-Cola. He later worked as the head of maintenance at Ashwood Care Center in Willmar for 20 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 167 in Willmar.
He is survived by his wife; children: Danny (and Joy) Estby of Parker, Colo., David (and Marilyn) Estby of Two Harbors, Angela (and Ed) Ahlbrecht of Litchfield; his mother: Astrid Howson of Willmar; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; his stepfather: Clifford Howson; a daughter: Kristi Estby in 1977; and one brother.
