Open house set for Wednesday on dangerous intersection

WILLMAR -- A public open house to present proposed safety improvement options for the intersection at North Business 71, Highway 294, Kandiyohi County Road 24 and 23rd Street Northeast in Willmar will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services Building, 2200 23rd St. N.E., in Willmar.

The open house will begin with a presentation at 5 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the proposed options and to provide comments.

Representatives from the city of Willmar, Kandiyohi County and Minnesota Department of Transportation will be available to answer questions.

The city, county and MnDOT hired CH2M Hill in August 2008 to evaluate nine options to improve safety at the intersection.

As a result of the evaluation, CH2M Hill presented three options to city, county and MnDOT on Jan. 15, 2009.
