Orrin Tofte Feb. 9, 1931 - July 18, 2009
MADISON -- Orrin Palmer Tofte, 78, of Madison, formerly of Louisburg, died Saturday in Minneapolis.
The services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Louisburg Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be this afternoon at Zahrbock Funeral Home in Madison with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and for one hour before the services at the church.
He was born Feb. 9, 1931, to Ole and Clara (Moen) Tofte. He attended school in Country District 41 and graduated from Appleton High School in 1949.
He married Valoris Lysholm on Jan. 31, 1953. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1957. He farmed for many years near Louisburg before moving to Lakeville in 1988. They then moved to Apple Valley and moved to Madison when they retired. He served on the farmers elevator board, country club golf board, church board, and a member of the Chord-Ayres Men's Singing Group. He also drove the bus for Prairie Five for several years.
He is survived by his wife; two children; Pam (and Christopher) Brown of Rosemount and Scott (and Nancy) Tofte of Madison; four grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; two sisters: Cora Lund of Appleton and Delores (and Palmer) Blank of Montevideo.
He was preceded in death by four children: Lisa Tofte, Cynthia Lou in infancy and two sons in infancy; and two sisters.
