Outdoor baseball in Minnesota returned at 3:13 p.m. today when starting pitcher Carl Pavano (1-0) opened up the Minnesota Twins' new ballpark against Boston Red Sox leadoff hitter Marco Scutaro.

The Twins (5-2) are playing their first outdoor home game since 1981 after calling the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome home the previous 28 seasons. Minnesota spent its first 21 seasons outdoors at Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington (1961-1981).

Minnesota faces Red Sox starter Jon Lester (0-0) today. Boston is 3-3 this season
