GRANITE FALLS -- Legislative colleagues, the governor and other state officials are expected to be among the overflow crowd later this morning for the funeral of Sen. Gary Kubly.
The 68-year-old DFL senator from Granite Falls died Friday at a hospital in St. Paul. He had been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease in 2010 and suffered a medical problem Feb. 29 that led to his hospitalization.
The Minnesota Senate has canceled all meetings for today, and the House has delayed all proceedings until 4:30 p.m. so that lawmakers may attend the funeral.
The service begins at 11 a.m. at Granite Falls Lutheran Church, and there is visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at the church.
Among Kubly's survivors are his wife, Pat; three adult children; and grandchildren.
