March 31 is the deadline to dispose of TVs and computer monitors for free at the Kandiyohi County landfill in rural New London.

Starting April 1, a $10 fee will be assessed for each item.

Other electronics -- like computer CPUs -- will continue to be accepted at no charge.

The fee is being implemented because the county will begin paying the recycler to take TVs and monitors next month.

Since the Kandiyohi County Commissioners made the decision Feb. 2 to charge a fee, people have been coming daily to the landfill to dispose of the items. A large roll-off container has reportedly been filled at least twice a week.
