LITCHFIELD -- Gertrude Patricia "Pat" Kielty, 87, of Litchfield, died Saturday at Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield. Burial will be in the St. Philip Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are by Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home of Litchfield.
She was born March 12, 1921, in Manannah to William and Margaret (Ackerman) Cashman. She grew up and attended school in Eden Valley, graduating in 1939. She graduated in 1943 from St. Cloud State University with a degree in teaching.
She married James Kielty on Aug. 14, 1944, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was a homemaker and resumed her career in 1967. She worked for Meeker County Social Services for nearly 20 years until retiring in 1987. She started as a social worker and was later promoted to social services supervisor. During her tenure, she was an integral part of building the DAC, now ProWorks, the Community Homes for the developmentally disabled and Red Castle that serves the mentally disabled.
She volunteered for Salvation Army and Litchfield Area Hospice, was a board member of Dinetons, an active member at Church of St. Philip and was a member of Daughters of Isabella.
She is survived by her children: Terri (and Mark) Thell of Wrenshall, Jim (and Deb) Kielty of Chaska, Colleen Kielty of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Peg (and A.J.) Cook of Mahtomedi, Lou (and Jeff) Hoff of Hutchinson, Tom (and Tamra) Kielty of Elkhorn, Wis., Charlie (and Lucy) Kielty of St. Cloud, Camille Kielty (and Robin Forbes) of Roswell, Ga., Gwen (and Tom) Simonson of Shoreview; daughter-in-law: Shorty Kielty of St. Cloud; 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son: Brad Kielty; one grandson; three brothers; and two sisters.
