Patsey C. Carstens Feb. 27, 1939 - Feb. 22, 2009
MORRIS -- Patsey Cleo Carstens, 69, of Morris died Sunday at West Wind Village in Morris.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Hoffman. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born Feb. 27, 1939, in Lorraine, N.D., to Lloyd and Ida (Medler) Revo. She graduated from Tolley (N.D.) High School in 1957 and, in 1960, moved to Minnesota and worked at the Powers Department Store in Minneapolis.
She married Garvin Carstens on June 9, 1962 and they moved to the Morris area, where they farmed. She worked at Willie's Red Owl Grocery Store. In 1973, she graduated from Ritter's School of Beauty in Fergus Falls. She worked in several shops in the Morris and Hoffman area and then owned and operated a beauty shop out of her home and would travel to the houses of "her ladies" who had difficulties coming to her. She also ran the beauty shop at the Grandview Apartments in Morris.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hoffman where she was an officer for the LWML and taught Sunday school. She was a member of the local homemakers club and was a leader for the Swan Lake 4-H Club.
She is survived by her husband; three children: Kathryn (and Leland) Wersinger of Pennock, Michael (and Angela) Carstens of Glenville and Victoria (and Brock) Surerus of Donnelly; five grandchildren and one sister: Janice (and Wilfred) Wenberg of Willmar.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father: Elmer Arneson; and two babies.
