Paul O. True Dec. 30, 1927 - Feb. 20, 2009
NEW LONDON -- Paul O. True, 81, of New London, died Friday in New London.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids. Burial with military honors will be in Itasca-Calvary Cemetery in Grand Rapids.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids.
He was born in Dec. 30, 1927, in Hill City to Pliny and Florence (Dewey) True. He grew up and attended schools at Hill City and St. Francis High School. He was an Army and Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, while in the Air Force.
He married Marion Burgard on April 7, 1956, in Pine City. They moved to the Isanti area. He moved to Madison and owned and operated the Madison Jewelry Gift Shop. He moved to Revillo, S.D. Following his retirement in 1986, he moved to Hill City, then Remer, and then to a home on Little Trout Lake near Emily. In 2006, he moved to Harris and, in August, he moved to New London.
He is survived by his children: Shirley Marshall of Harris, Paulette Lamere of Excelsior and Chyde (and Vicky) True of New London; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in May; children: Darlene Anderson and Raymond Kofstad; and three brothers.
