Paynesville, Minn., man killed in rollover crash

PAYNESVILLE — A 45-year-old Paynesville man was pronounced dead at the Paynesville Hospital after a one-vehicle rollover crash around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night north of Paynesville.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Darrin John Schaefer was driving a 2001 Chevy Silverado south on County Road 195 in Zion Township when the pickup left the roadway, rolled onto its side and then landed in a drainage ditch. Schaefer was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected out of the passenger side window of the vehicle.

The incident is under investigation. Also responding were the St. Martin Fire and Rescue squads and the Paynesville Ambulance.
