According to a release from the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, Cody Christian Hagen, 16, was driving a 2011 Polaris Ranger 500 ATV on private property in Paynesville Township at about 4 p.m. when the rollover occurred.

He was driving too fast to make a turn into a pasture, and the front driver's side tire went flat, causing the ATV to roll onto the driver's side and pin him, according to the release. Another juvenile with him lifted the vehicle off him, and a family member took him to the Paynesville Hospital. The boy was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital and pronounced dead there shortly after 5 p.m.

The Sheriff's Office was notified of the incident early Monday afternoon, according to the release. The accident is under investigation.
