Pearl E. Rising Feb. 11, 1920 - May 14, 2009
VILLARD -- Pearl Esther Rising, 89, of Alexandria, formerly of Villard, died Thursday at Bethany Home in Alexandria.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at St. John's Lutheran Church in Villard. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Villard.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.
She was born Feb. 11, 1920, in Carlos Township, Douglas County, to William and Annette (Gunther) Wunderlich. She grew up on a farm near Miltona and attended District 69 School.
On Feb. 16, 1947, she married Harold Rising. They lived in Alexandria and later moved to Derby, Colo., for three years before settling in Villard.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she participated in ladies aid, taught Sunday school and release time and helped at the fair booth at the Douglas County Fair. She also was a member of the Glenwood VFW Auxiliary Post 3815.
She is survived by her sons: Larry (and Jean) Rising of Eagle Bend, Wayne Rising of Villard and Byrne Rising of Miltona; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and her brother: Clifford Wunderlich of Miltona.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983; a son: Maynard in 2001; four brothers; and one sister.
