Pheasant hunter injured near Clarkfield
GRANITE FALLS -- A hunter from Excelsior suffered a shotgun wound to the arm in an accident that occurred at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday while pheasant hunting southwest of Clarkfield in Yellow Medicine County.
The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Department reported that Todd James Pedersen, 50, was being treated at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital for his injury.
He was injured when a 12-guage shotgun discharged as it was being handed to it him by his son-in-law, Scott Joesph Spehar, 25, of Waconia. Spehar had just crossed a small creek and Pederson had handed him their two shotguns, one at a time. The second shotgun discharged and struck Pedersen in the right arm.
The two went to a medical clinic in Clarkfield, and Pedersen was subsequently transported by ambulance to the hospital in Montevideo.
