ATWATER - Philip Charles Miller, age 87, of Atwater, died Wednesday morning, June 26, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. Interment will be at Union Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Willmar American Legion Post. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, at the Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Philip Charles Miller was born on March 12, 1926, in Atwater, Minnesota, the son of Charles and Alma (Peterson) Miller. He grew up in the Atwater community, received his education in the country schools and became engaged in the family farming operation. On August 25, 1950, Philip was united in marriage to June L. Dykema. They lived on the Miller family farm near Diamond Lake until Philip was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1955. Following his service, they moved into Atwater where Philip was employed by Holm Brothers. In about 1985, Philip became self-employed in the plumbing and repair business. He was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Philip enjoyed fishing, woodworking, photography and computers. He especially treasured the time spent with family at the cabin on Diamond Lake.

He is survived by his three children, Cheryl (and Gary) Kulset of New London, Larry (and Helga) Miller of Willmar and Alan (and Carla) Miller of Spicer; seven grandchildren, Grant (and Cortney), Kimberly (and Dominique), Ryan, Daniel, Sarah, Kari and Quentin and five great grandchildren, Grady, Ellianna, Mason, Liam and Kiley. Also surviving are three sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Atwater, Doris Berscheid of Atwater and Janet Johnson of New London, besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June in November of 2011 and four brothers, Lawrence, George, Vernon and Newell.
