Chad Michael Ridener, 18, of Willmar was arraigned Friday in Kandiyohi County District Court for violating an order for protection for making phone calls where he threatened to harm the woman one minute and pledged his love the next.

The charge, which is a misdemeanor, will be added to a list of 13 previous charges, including serious felonies that Ridener was charged with last year.

Troubles for Ridener and his ex-girlfriend began on Oct. 25 when Ridener allegedly strangled the woman until her nose began to bleed and she coughed up blood. Following that incident, the woman obtained an order for protection against Ridener. The two have a child together.

On Nov. 12 Ridener attempted to break into the woman's house and at 2:45 a.m. on Nov. 14, Ridener kidnapped the woman at knife-point while she was outside on a cigarette break while working as a nursing assistant at Infinia Health Care in Willmar.

While threatening to physically harm her unless she complied, Ridener forced the woman to undress in the car while he drove to the Morton area. He then forced her to have sex. They stopped at Jackpot Junction, where Ridener allegedly told the woman to call her mother and say that she went willingly with him. Ridener threatened to cut the woman with a razor if she alerted anyone at the casino. As he was forcing her out the door and into the car, the woman screamed for help and security guards from Jackpot Junction assisted her.

Ridener is in jail on $100,000 unconditional bail and $75,000 conditional for the November charges.

Those charges include one count of kidnapping, three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, three counts of violating an order for protection, one count of domestic assault by strangulation, one count of third-degree assault, one count of first-degree burglary and one count of fourth-degree criminal damage to property.

On Friday, Judge Donald Spilseth put unconditional bail for Ridener at $5,000 and conditional bail at $4,000.

According to court records, authorities were notified by an anonymous woman that Ridener was placing phone calls from jail to his ex-girlfriend, in violation of the order for protection. The police report includes a synopsis of the four telephone calls Ridener made to the woman, which were recorded at the jail. The officer describes Ridener as "manipulative" and "at times demanding." In one conversation, Ridener tells the woman, "Don't think just cause I'm in here I can't do nothing to you." He also asked her to drop the charges so he could get out of jail and they could be together.

Ridener is scheduled to attend a pre-trial hearing for the latest charges Wednesday. A pre-trial hearing for the original charges is set for Feb. 9 and a jury trial on March 29.
