According to a news release from Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner, Richard Antony was driving the vehicle south on the lake from the public water access off 180th Street. The pickup broke through the ice and partially submerged. Antony was alone in the vehicle and escaped without injury.

Thin ice signs were placed around the area, but Sanner warns that other areas of thin ice may be in that area. The sheriff says residents should use their best judgment if venturing onto the ice, especially if driving a vehicle.

The incident, which was reported around 10:40 a.m. today, is under investigation by the sheriff's office. Conservation officers from the Department of Natural Resources also responded.
