Pope Art season opens Saturday
Café Accordion Orchestra opens the 10th season at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Pope Art gallery in Terrace. Tickets for this performance are $20 and will be available at the door.
Café Accordion Orchestra describes its show as "Berets and Bongos," an eclectic mix, full of French flare, Latin heat and Bohemian attitude. The Minneapolis band of Dan Newton, Eric Mohring, Erik Lillestol and Joe Steinger plays the romantic, gypsy-influenced valse-musette and adds some swing, ballads, tangos, cha-chas, rumbas and cumbias to create a varied show; "good humor and expressive abandon rule."
Tickets for the remaining Saturday performances of the season are $15 and are available at the door.
On July 11 soprano Pat Dorn returns to Pope Art.
July 18 will be a double bill with visual artist Mitch McGuire creating a painting on site and authors Janet Martin and David Cook signing their cookbook "Lemonade for the Lawnboy," along with music and samples.
Aug. 9 will feature soprano Joy Aalgaard.
Aug. 16 will be "Skilly & Duff," Douglas County's Irish combo featuring Mikko Cowdery, Annie O'Flynn, and Bruce Kelly.
The final concert on Aug. 22 will be the vocal quartet "The Hot Dishes," including Mary Lou Thunselle, Miriam Thornquist, Dedra Zweig and Stephanie Osterberg, with pianist Kevin Lee, returning to Pope Art.
