Prep Baseball: Benson shuts out Waska

GLENWOOD -- Morgan Staton and Anthony Berreau combined on a one-hit shutout in Benson's 10-0, five-inning win over Minnewaska on Monday.

Staton worked four innings, allowing only Zach Sanford's double in the fourth inning. Berreau worked the fifth and struck out one.

The Braves' Luke Schwarz, who had two hits, and Tanner Mikkelson both drove in a pair of runs, and Matt Ahrndt was 3-for-3 with an RBI.

Staton had a double among his two hits and he drove in a run, Jake Huston also drove in a run and Carl Hoffman was 2-for-3.

Berreau and Tyler Krienke also had hits for Benson.

Minnewaska plays next at Otter Tail Central, at 4:30 p.m. today, in Battle Lake.

Mac Beyer was 3-for-3 and Morris/Chokio-Alberta drubbed Pelican Rapids 10-0 on Monday.

Chandler Erickson tossed five innings, struck out seven and allowed three hits to pick up the win.

The Tigers scored three in the second inning on RBI singles from Lincoln Berget and Tom Holland.

They scored two more in the fifth with a sacrifice fly and a wild pitch, and pushed across five in the sixth with a rally capped by Beyer's two-run single.
