Prep Baseball: Homers power Minnewaska past Lac qui Parle Valley, 3-2

MADISON -- Solo home runs from Kevin Jenks and Mike Whittemore helped left-hander Trenton Berg outduel Eric Paulson as Minnewaska edged Lac qui Parle Valley 3-2 Monday in West Central South Conference baseball.

Whittemore scored the game's first run when Mike Nielsen singled in the first inning. Jenks then homered in the second and Whittemore in the third to give Berg a quick 3-0 lead.

Berg survived giving up five walks by limiting the Eagles (7-6, 9-8) to just two singles while striking out seven.

The Eagles scored twice in the fourth when Seth Haas drove in Jacob Redepenning with a single and Joey Schreck hit a sacrifice fly. Paulson scattered seven hits, six strikeouts and a walk in his complete-game performance.

The bottom four in the YME order went 8-for-13 and scored seven runs.

Tyler Sand led off both three-run Sting innings with singles. Dustin Baker followed with hits both times. Devin Dyrdahl, the No. 8 hitter, drove in three runs and Mason Hegna in the nine spot was 1-for-4.

Dylan Lindstrom allow-ed two hits over six innings for the win. Travis Enger relieved with one on and no outs in the seventh.

Alex Steffel doubled in the Warriors' run in the seventh.

Morris 6, ACGC 5

Morris led 6-3 after scoring an unearned run in the top of the seventh.

Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City rallied on Morris errors and walks for two unearned runs to make it 6-5, but Eric Riley relieved Tyler Hanson with the bases loaded and two outs and got the game-ending out on a strikeout.

The teams had five hits each and a combined 13 errors.

Cole Riley had two hits for Morris. Trever Heining doubled twice for the Falcons and Mitch Tauer also had two hits.
