KERKHOVEN -- Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg breezed through its two games, allowing just two runs overall at its own invitational tournament Saturday.


The Fighting Saints (5-4) beat Hancock 11-1 in five innings and did the same to Osakis, winning 11-1 in five innings. The Owls topped Osakis, 3-2.

Derrick Foss singled home Austin Steege with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Hancock the win.

Steege led off with a walk, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Cory Schroeder and to third on an infield single by Brendon Foss before Derrick Foss single to left-center field.

Drew Schmidgall went the distance on a three-hitter for the win. He walked one and struck out eight. Schmidgall also helped his own cause, going 3-for-3 with two RBI.

KMS plated six runs in the opening inning and then rose the three-hit pitching of Bryan Schlagel.

Aaron Zimmer, Jon Glimsdal and Jonah Johnson had two hits apiece for the Fighting Saints.

Schlagel walked three and struck out four in the five-inning game.

KMS scored 10 runs in the fourth and fifth innings combined. Aaron Doraska and Taylor Freetly hit a two-run single each in the four-run fourth, while Bryan Schlagel smacked a bases-clearing double for three of six runs in the fifth.

Zimmer pitched a three-hitter over five innings for the win.

Randy Peterson doubled in fifth inning to tie the game at 5-5 for the Falcons, but Royalton plated a run in the sixth to eventually win.

Jordan Tanner went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored to lead ACGC.

Jeff Peterson gave up only one earned run in seven innings.
