It was the fifth straight win for the Thunder Hawks who improved to 10-1 in the conference with one game left. BOLD is 8-1 in the South.

The hot weather and high winds contributed to a field that played like blacktop. Each team had six errors, many on balls skipping through the outfielders' grasp.

Runs came in bunches. Monte scored four in the first on RBI hits by Jake Bednar and Jordan Thompson around three Braves' miscues.

Benson got its three runs in the top of the fifth to make it a one-run game. Matt Ahrndt doubled in two runs and Luke Schwarz doubled in another.

Vien hit a hard single to left in the fifth but came all the way around to score when the left-fielder misplayed the ball and subsequently missed the cutoff.

Morris/CA 1, YME 0

In a terrific game at Richter Field, the Tigers' Sam Mattson and the Sting's Austin Thorstad were both in command on the mound.

The only runner crossing the plate was in the top of the third. Tanner Picht's hard double into the wind coming over the right-field wall scored Bryce Jergeson, who had walked, from second base.

Runners still were on second with no out, but Thorstad pitched out of the jam.

YME loaded the sacks with one out in the sixth but Mattson got a double-play ball to end the inning.

Thorstad finished with a five-hitter and Mattson a four-hitter.
