PAYNESVILLE -- Nath-an Nietfeld struck out eight batters in six innings and was backed by an 11-hit attack as Paynesville whipped Yellow Medicine East 11-1 in West Central South Conference baseball on Tueday.

Nietfeld was also 3-for-4 at the plate, including a pair of douubles. Jake Deadrick went 2-for-4 and knocked in four runs. Eric Wolbeck added a single and double in three trips, while driving home two runs.

Nietfeld allowed five hits and walked none.

Derek Dyrdahl drove in the Sting's lone run with a single in the sixth.

A nine-run first inning put this one away early for the Thunder Hawks' (1-3, 1-4) first win.

Jared Schmidt led a 12-hit attack with three hits -- two of them doubles -- and two RBI. Mitch Christensen also knocked in two runs with a double and single and Ryan Tostenson plated three runs with two hits.

Christensen threw three shutout innings for the win.

Kyle Pederson singled home the lone run in the fifth for Benson (0-5, 0-5).

Ryan Streich started the rally with a two-run home run.
