MORRIS -- Even though Morris rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge Paynesville 7-6, the Bulldogs still clinched a tie for the West Central South Conference baseball title Friday.

With a 10-4 record in conference games, Paynesville has a two-game lead over BOLD (8-6), Minnewaska (8-6), Morris (9-6) and Yellow Medicine East (9-6) with two games left on its WCS schedule. Paynesville can clinch the title outright with a win over BOLD on Monday or a win over Minnewaska next Thursday.

Paynesville got to Morris starter Mitch Kill in the first inning by getting three runs in on Jordan Lieser's bases-clearing double. The Bulldogs got another run in the sixth and two more in the seventh to take a 6-3 lead.

But in the bottom half of the frame, Tyler Hansen's two-run homer and a misplay on a ball hit to center field by Paynesville allowed Morris to rally from a three-run deficit.

Mitch Carbert also slugged a two-run homer in the fourth for the Tigers.

Lieser, who went 3-for-4, added an RBI single in the seventh to knock in four runs on the day for Paynesville.
