Prep baseball: RCW’s Schaub gets 300th coaching win
SACRED HEART —Trailing 3-2, the Jaguars scored four times in the fifth inning and went on to deck Ortonville 7-3 on a chilly Tuesday afternoon at the baseball park in Sacred Heart.
It was the 300th win for Renville County West head coach Randy Schaub, who began his career at Villard.
His son, Griffin, a senior, played a role in the victory with three of the team’s six hits and an RBI.
Mason Schmitz’s leadoff single was the only hit in the fifth for RCW. Runs scored on two wild pitches, a balk and a Trojan error.
Hayden Johnson threw the last three innings for the victory after taking over for Schaub to start the fifth.
