BOLD 6, New Ulm 4

MARSHALL -- Tate Neubauer tripled home two runs with two outs in the top of the seventh inning and BOLD went on to upset No. 2-ranked New Ulm 6-4 in Section 3AA baseball on Wednesday.

BOLD (15-7) will meet Fairmont in the winner's bracket at noon Saturday in Marshall. The winner of that game advances to the final on June 10 with two chances to win one game and advance to state.

BOLD trailed 2-1 before tying the game with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth when Shawn Dollerschell walked and later scored on a double by Neubauer. Jacob Skeie then drove in Neubauer with a pinch-hit single.

New Ulm (17-5) came right back to score two more runs and regain the lead, 4-3.

BOLD then scored three times in the top of the seventh, all with two outs. Dollerschell and Alex Gay drew consecutive walks before Andrew Brooks singled off the glove of the first baseman's diving attempt to drive in the tying run. Neubauer then cleared the bases with his triple to right-center.

New Ulm got a two-out single off BOLD reliever Kyle Krause. The next Eagles batter drove a deep fly ball that BOLD center fielder Kyle Athmann caught on the warning track for the final out.

Krause worked 12/3 scoreless innings for the win. Jake Stevens hurled the first 51/3 innings and allowed seven hits and two earned runs.

Renville County West 4, Murray County Central 3

GRANITE FALLS -- A walkoff 4-3 win Murray County Central moved Renville County West into the Section 3A winner's bracket final Saturday at Granite Falls.

The Jaguars (12-7) will meet either Canby or Adrian at noon.

Murray County Central (10-7) retired two of the first three RCW batters to start the bottom of the seventh inning, but Steve Jakel and Trent Novotny drew walks to load the bases. Brian Feldman, who reached on a single, then scored on a wild pitch for RCW's first run. Austin Link drew another walk and Dakota Freiborg lined a double to the gap on the first pitch to drive in Jakel, Novotny and Link and end the game.

Freiborg also picked up the win on the mound after throwing a complete game with 11 strikeouts. Freiborg surrendered just one walk and five singles.

Paynesville 10, Litchfield 2

ST. CLOUD -- By scoring eight runs in the fifth inning, Paynesville assured a spot in the Section 6AA final four as the Bulldogs beat Litchfield 10-2 Wednesday in the 6AA-West semifinals.

Paynesville (15-7) will face top-seeded Rocori today at 7 p.m. in St. Cloud in the sub-section final. Both teams advance to the double-elimination final four that starts Monday in St. Cloud.

The Bulldogs sent up 12 batters to the plate in the fifth and was aided by four Litchfield errors. Paynesville had Justin Wendlandt, Casey Hess and Jason Kampsen double and Jordan Lieser single in the frame.

Kampsen kept Litchfield (13-9) off balanced by throw a variety of pitches en route to picking up a complete-game win. The sophomore right-hander gave up seven hits and two walks while striking out nine.

Lieser collected three hits and Hess another two to ignite the Paynesville offense. Shane Gutormson and Brian Malepsy had two hits apiece for Litchfield.
