MADISON — The Lac qui Parle Valley baseball team improved to 17-1 with two victories in the Section 3A-North quarterfinals and semifinals on Saturday.

The Eagles defeated Renville County West 9-3 in the quarterfinals, then ripped Lakeview pitching for 12 hits in an 11-2 victory in the semis.

The Eagles play 17-3 Springfield at 5 p.m. today in Granite Falls.

Against RCW, Ben Morken and Brandon Hill both had two RBIs and Preston Kraft, Garrett Olson and Jon Nielsen all drove in runs. The Eagles scored five in the first to take command.

Against Lakeview, Kraft had a triple among his two hits and drove in three runs

Hill had two hits and drove in two runs.

Eric Smith got the win in game one and combined with Olson to strike out 10 RCW hitters.

Morken worked six innings to get the win in game two. Colby Siegert finished the seventh and struck out two.

Central Minnesota Christian School’s T.J. Stoel doubled to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning and score on Grant Hoekstra’s game-winning single to center field in the first round of the Section 3A-North playoffs in Raymond.

Stoel had two hits and Hoekstra reached base four times on his single, two walks and a hit-by-pitch. He also stole two bases.

Austin Bulthuis got the win in relief of starter Sam Ohden.

MACCRAY wasted little time gearing up offensively for the playoffs, scoring 22 runs on 28 hits in two wins Saturday to open Section 3A-North play in Raymond.

Against Yellow Medicine East, Dylan Abraham homered, doubled, drove in two runs and scored three. Cody Boonstra was 3-for-4 and scored twice, and Tyler Donner, Jacob Aviles, Carter Asche and Ransom Dykema all had two hits.

Caleb Melin got the win, allowing just two unearned runs in five innings.

MACCRAY plays Windom at 7 p.m. today in Granite Falls.

Central Minnesota Christian rallied from four runs down to take a sixth-inning lead, but MACCRAY countered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Tyler Donner was 2-for-3 and drove in three runs and Dylan Abraham was 3-for-3 and drove in a pair.

Caleb Melin, Cody Boonstra, Derick Sommers and Jacob Aviles all had two hits.

CMCS now plays Lakeview at 5 p.m. today in Montevideo.

Redwood Valley 1

MORRIS — The Morris/Chokio-Alberta baseball team rode solid pitching to two victories on Saturday in the opening games of the Section 3AA-North playoffs.

The Tigers’ Jacob Torgerson didn’t allow an earned run and struck out six in a 4-1 win over Redwood Valley in the quarterfinals.

In the semifinals, Mac Beyer also worked a complete game, striking out eight, in the Tigers’ 10-1 semifinals win over New London-Spicer.

MCA, now 15-2, plays Luverne at 5 p.m. today in Marshall.

Tyler Henrichs homered, doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice against Redwood Valley. Beyer and Tanner Picht also had two-hit games.

Against NLS, Beyer was 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, Lincoln Berget was 3-for-4 and Torgerson was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs score.

Henrichs doubled in two runs.
