NEW LONDON -- Baserunning mistakes in the third, fourth and fifth innings led to New London-Spicer's undoing in an 11-7 loss to St. Cloud Cathedral.


NLS lost an out to baserunning mistakes in each of the first three innings, according to coach John Vraa.

Tied going into the sixth inning, the Wildcats gave up a crucial two-run double to Brian Peck that gave St. Cloud Cathedral the lead.

St. Cloud Cathedral's Nate Schmidt hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh to increase the margin.

Luke Peterson led the Wildcats' offensive charge by batting 3-for-3 with two doubles and a run batted in.

Litchfield (3-3, 3-4) scored 10 runs over the first three innings.

Nick Johnson had three hits and drove in two runs. Shane Gutormson, Aaron Solbrack and Eric Hulterstrum had two hits each for the Dragons. Each had a double.

Aaron Valiant worked four innings for the win and David Yori hurled the final three frames for the save.

It was the first loss of the season for Glencoe-Silver Lake (2-1, 4-1).

(At Chokio) -- Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg trailed 4-1 after two innings but fought back to gain their second win in two days after an 0-4 start.

Hunter Van Den Elzen, who relieved struggling Bryan Schagel in the first inning, pitched into the seventh when Jonah Johnson was called on to get the last out.

Van Den Elzen allowed four hits and three runs over six innings for the win.

Schagel had no problems hitting and finished with three hits and an RBI. Aaron Zimmer doubled and singled for two RBI.
