Prep Boys Basketball Roundup: Holy Family shoots out lights in win over NLS

NEW LONDON — One of the state’s top Class AAA schools caught New London-Spicer on a bad day.

Holy Family shot 70 percent from the field and overwhelmed NLS, handing the Wildcats their first loss of the season, 76-37, on Saturday.

The Fire hit 20 of 25 2-point shots and shot 56 percent from 3-point range on a day when the Wildcats managed just 31 percent shooting.

The Fire led by 25 by halftime and continued to stymie the Wildcats defensively in the second half.

The Fire’s Brett Hentges hit four 3-point shots and scored 20 points to lead a balanced offensive attack.

NLS’ Shane Zylstra led the Wildcats with 12 points and 9 rebounds.

The Wildcats, now 8-1, play host to Glencoe-Silver Lake in a Wright County Conference game at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
