Prep Football: BBE foiled by Holdingford

BELGRADE -- Holdingford scored 29 points in the first three quarters to outlast Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 29-14 in a Central Minnesota Conference football game Friday.

Holdingford's Victor Lumley scored a pair of one-yard touchdowns in the first two quarters as Holdingford took a 14-0 halftime lead.

The Jaguars (0-1, 1-1) scored all 14 of their points in the fourth quarter. Ben Borgerding scored on a one-yard run and Brady Koehler did the same.

BBE had a balanced offensive attack, gaining 136 yards on the ground and 125 through the air. Borgerding led the team with 61 rushing yards, Koehler threw for 125 yards and Tucker Cebulla grabbed five balls for 69 yards.

The visiting Tigers led 20-0 in the second quarter when a thunder storm brought activities to a temporary stop. After an hour-long halt due to rain and lightning, play resumed on running time with 5:48 left in the first half.

Litchfield was unable to hold the Tigers, who gained 312 yards rushing in 55 snaps and led 26-0 at halftime.

Quinn Anderson's two-yard scamper for Litchfield ended Delano's shutout bid.

Quarterback Trevor Checkal ran for 112 yards and two scores and threw for 57 yards for Delano.

Litchfield amassed only 125 yards of total offense.

Tyler Larson's 12 tackles led the Dragons' defense.
